Development Env in sabayon

Development Env in sabayon

Hi,
I'm switchin from fedora to sabayon and i think its pretty cool... How can i set up a development env for C++/QT, Java/Eclipse ... I'm not used to using sulfur yet...

You simply download, using sulfur, eclipse-sdk.
After that you can install any plugin you like.
If you like the command line you could simply run, as root:

equo update
equo install entropy equo sulfur
equo install --ask eclipse-sdk
(the second command is just for updating the package manager, if it is already
up to date you can skip it)

You could also download, using sulfur/equo, the java SDK and then download
eclipse from its website, this is not recommended because you do not use the package
manager, but eclipse does not need any installation.

Ensure that the JDK is selected as your system-vm when you use eclipse.
run eselect like this, as root:

eselect java-vm list
Available Java Virtual Machines:
  [1]   sun-jdk-1.6  system-vm
if sun-jdk (your version could be different) is not your vm (it has not the "system-vm" text near it),
run:

Code: Select all

eselect java-vm set system 1
(1 is from the command above)
