problems with hard drives detection

Postby rjb56 » Sat Feb 06, 2010 20:20

Hello
I just downloaded the 5.1 version of 64 bit Sabayon with Gnome and after the live session started I noticed that all of my installed hard drives were not recognized and were unavailable. I at the moment I have 6 internal hard drives, 4 are sata drives, 2 80GB and 2 500GB, with two older 160GB eide drives. I thought that perhaps it was just the live session so I started the installer and two dirves were still not recognized in the partitioning tool. I do not want to install Sabayon unless I can resolve this issue because I want to be able to have access to all of my hard drives. Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem?
Thanks
Robert

I don't know which problem it could have, but you could try to take a look at the kernel log.
Open as root /var/log/messages and check for errors when it tries to mount the volumes, or when it
detects them.

In the gnome version you should run, in a console as root:
Code: Select all
su
gedit /var/log/messages
