Network UPS Tools (NUT) and usbhid-ups driver [Solved]

Postby pavav » Mon Dec 14, 2009 0:49

I just installed the Eaton Personal Solution Pac 3.0.8 package (NUT client) [ viewtopic.php?f=59&t=19239&start=0 ], but now I have problem with the ups driver.
This happens when I run # upsdrvctl start :
Network UPS Tools - UPS driver controller 2.4.1
Network UPS Tools - Generic HID driver 0.34 (2.4.1)
USB communication driver 0.31
Using subdriver: MGE HID 1.12
Got disconnected by another driver: Device or resource busy
Can't initialize data from HID UPS
Driver failed to start (exit status=1)

I don't know what to do and need help...
I run Sabayon 5.0

Ok, that helps, I must specify the ups with "upsdrvctl start <upsname>" and it works... thanks again :)

It works and when I run "upsdrv" init script..

 maybe you wrote solved too quickly...

Does it give you any error message?
(if you are referring to a GUI application, if you launch it from a console, it will
give you some useful output)

Yeees, maybe... :|

That is the output:

Code: Select all
$ psp
/etc/issue: This is \n.\O (\s \m \r) \t

System is: Unknown
/etc/issue: This is \n.\O (\s \m \r) \t

System is: Unknown

and then some gtk-warning messages..

Maybe it won't help, but what if you run psp as root?

Can you post the full output from console?
As far as I read in the forums, that application should also report Drivers and other infos...

That is the full output, it is the same as when i run as non-root user:

Code: Select all
# psp
/etc/issue: This is \n.\O (\s \m \r) \t

System is: Unknown
/etc/issue: This is \n.\O (\s \m \r) \t

System is: Unknown

(psp:11487): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to add a widget with type gtkmm__GtkFixed to a container of type gtkmm__GtkViewport, but the widget is already inside a container of type gtkmm__GtkViewport, the GTK+ FAQ at http://library.gnome.org/devel/gtk-faq/stable/ explains how to reparent a widget.

I try with argument (-a <driver, port> Auto configure PSP), but it still can't connect:

Code: Select all
# psp -a usbhid-ups,auto
/etc/issue: This is \n.\O (\s \m \r) \t

System is: Unknown
/etc/issue: This is \n.\O (\s \m \r) \t

System is: Unknown
Option auto-configure: cliDriver = usbhid-ups, cliPort = auto

(psp:11674): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to add a widget with type gtkmm__GtkFixed to a container of type gtkmm__GtkViewport, but the widget is already inside a container of type gtkmm__GtkViewport, the GTK+ FAQ at http://library.gnome.org/devel/gtk-faq/stable/ explains how to reparent a widget.

Yes, the application should report "NUT release:" and "NUT driver: (version:)" info in the About tab, but now this fields are empty

Tak...
The problem is that I changed the "ups name" in /etc/nut/ups.conf and /etc/nut/upsmon.conf, but I did not do it in /usr/sbin/upssched-cmd script (default is "Ups="[email protected]"). Now everything is OK.
