Advice for Installation to nVidia Chipset System? [Solved]

Postby LaneLester » Sun Dec 13, 2009 17:58

I have about an hour on the download of 5.1G and am looking forward to exploring Sabayon. My computer has a fairly new motherboard with an nVidia chipset. This means that all distro LiveCDs display incorrectly (too big and offset) during install, but then are fine after the nVidia 185 driver is installed.

I'm mostly a Ubuntu user, so I'd appreciate any tips about getting going in Sabayon with the correct video. I can edit xorg.conf from another partition if need be.

Does Sabayon use grub2? I have other distros in other partitions on this machine and would like to keep access without too much trouble.

I went ahead and installed 5.1Gnome, and was pleasantly surprised when, unlike other LiveCDs, my nVidia chipset was recognized and the 185 driver automatically activated. That made the install a much more pleasant process.
