Thanks, wolfden.

This is the list of files I refered to as "Gentoo-standard", ( I browsed it already here: http://gentoo-wiki.com/TIP_List_of_Configuration_Files ) which is not a great help in some cases, as I described above. My interest was on the paths/files which are used deviant in Sabayon and also locations which don't show up in this list.

But for a quick first reference this list is helpful here, anyway.

wolfden has already explained in the first post in this thread how to check the md5sum of the ISO file before burning. You can also check the integrity of the DVD/CD after you have burnt it, using the procedure given in the following thread:

http://www.sabayonlinux.org/forum/viewt ... 50&t=11094

repeated in the SL Wiki:

wolfden wrote:How to update the mini menu to the DVD Suse style Kicker
you need to remove "kicker" lines from /etc/portage/package.mask than

# emerge --sync && layman -s sabayon && USE="-kdeinvisibility" emerge kicker && exit && dcop kicker kicker restart
It should be USE="-kdehiddenvisibility", not USE="-kdeinvisibility".

Hello. I was wondering if anyone has access to a visual reference to the overall sabayon / gentoo system.
just a visual 'tree' of how everything is setup from kernel to layers and all. If there were something like this around, i'd love to see it. I think it could be helpful to new users .
"sorry"
