From ubuntu to Sabayon

Post by lakesidepark » Mon Mar 27, 2017 19:20

Hello, everybody, I moved out from Ubuntu to Sabayon, and I lake, the operational system runs very fine, no crashes, and very fast. But I sill with some doubts. I read in wiki about package installations and terminal commands, but I don't know if I'm sending wrong commands to install wine, htop, remove pitivideo and install oracle JDK, cause I still work with proprietary java Libs.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to Sabayon Forum

equo command as an --help option that can help you

Code: Select all

# equo --help
and all sub-command has its own --help option

Code: Select all

# equo remove --help
first : force to update the repository

Code: Select all

# equo update --force
so , to install somthing just run

Code: Select all

# equo install --ask <packagename> <packagename>...
put --ask or --pretend option to show what will be installed

to remove

Code: Select all

# equo remove --ask <packagename> <packagename>
be carefully what this command is going to remove

Your case :

Code: Select all

# equo install --ask wine htop oracle-jdk-bin
and check which java envronment is configured

Code: Select all

$ java-config -L
The following VMs are available for generation-2:
*)      IcedTea JDK 3.3.0 [icedtea-bin-8]
2)      Oracle JRE 1.8.0.121 [oracle-jre-bin-1.8]
see

Code: Select all

$ java-config

regarding "pitivideo" , there isn't any kind pitivideo package in our repository. Assume you've installed pitivideo from another source or you refer to media-video/pitivi , in this case just run

Code: Select all

# equo rm pitivi --ask
[Che Cos'è Il Calcolo Distribuito (BOINC)

BOINC ready ! Sabayon+BOINC = BILD ,my Sabayon spin :cyclops: - Ready to crunch for the Science everywhere :)
