Post-install upgrade completely breaks system

Post by brightfame » Tue Apr 07, 2020 7:19

So I get a new machine (Lenovo Yoga c930 -- a laptop I have installed and run Sabayon on previously with no issues) and go to install Sabayon. The install works great, so I boot up into my first boot and follow the "post-install" instructions at https://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?titl ... figuration as usual.

> equo update
> equo install glibc

the install command gets all the way through the downloads section and successfully installs the first 75 packages or so. Then during the post-install phase of one of them, the system totally locks up and the caps lock key just starts flashing. Rebooting at this point results in the same thing with a kernel panic message.

I have so far tried booting onto the live DVD and chroot'ing into the on-disk system (https://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?titl ... m_a_LiveCD) to attempt to try the equo upgrade again, but equo fails with this stack trace:

ImportError: /usr/lib64/libssl.so.1.0.0: symbol krb5_rc_destroy version krb5_3_MIT not defined in file libkrb5.so.3 with link time reference
I've tried the install twice now and this happens both times... I've never seen this happen before ever so I am at a bit of a loss of what I might try next to resolve this...

If you use a daily builds you have a fresh installation without having to do a lot of updates.
