entropy post install [Solved]

Post by trigg » Sun Oct 29, 2017 16:37

First of all, let me introduce myself
my name is trigg and i'm italian
for about two years I've been killing the world of linux
I currently use slackware, mint and for about a year
I turned around sabayon I installed and uninstalled several times.

for a few days I decided to remove opensuse to definitely replace sabayon plasma.

in my opinion the first rock that a new Sabayon user has to deal with is the clarity of entropy and portage, which is something that in these years has always left me in doubt and therefore desist in sabayon.

so I joined the forum to ask to help me eliminate all the doubts starting with the post-install that I did, ask if it's correct.

first step

Code: Select all

cd /etc/entropy/repositories.conf.d

Code: Select all

nano -w _entropy_sabayonlinux.org
stuck

Code: Select all

ctrl o ctrl x

equo repo enable sabayonlinux.org

Code: Select all

equo update

Code: Select all

equo repo mirrorsort sabayonlinux.org

Code: Select all

equo update

Code: Select all

equo install entropy sulfur equo

Code: Select all

equo conf update

Code: Select all

equo upgrade --ask

Code: Select all

equo conf update
after enabled sabayonlinux.org and disable weely and limbo

I wonder if what I did is correct
otherwise I would like to have the right directions
to configure and update my sabayon at its best
thank you

Hi guy and welcome to SabayonLinux

All steps you've done are correct

Yuo can also run "equo" and its subcommand(s) to do the same things (almost things)

see

Code: Select all

# equo --help
and

Code: Select all

# equo <commad> --help
i.e.:

disable Sabayon Limbo (or Sabayon weekly) repository (keep in mind : do not enable Limbo and Weekly in the same time)

Code: Select all

# equo repo disable sabayon limbo
or

Code: Select all

# equo repo disable sabayon-weekly
Enable sabayonlinux.org repository

Code: Select all

# equo repo enable sabayonlinux.org
and sort repo-mirrors

Code: Select all

# equo repo mirrorsort sabayonlinux.org
You can combine several "equo command" ; one shot to sorting all mirrors for all enabled repositories

Code: Select all

# equo repo mirrorsort $(equo repo list -q)

for more details see

Code: Select all

# equo repo --help

Update the repository

Code: Select all

# equo update

remenber also that "sulfur" no more exists, it is now "rigo".

also, please remenber to install and/or upgrade the package "magneto". Is the upgrades notifier.

ok albfneto
so

Code: Select all

equo install entropy sulfur equo
becomes

Code: Select all

equo install entropy rigo equo
in fact I did not have the pale idea what was sulfur

I checked the rigo version and it is 310

I threw

Code: Select all

equo update

Code: Select all

equo upgrade
the system is up to date

Code: Select all

equo deptest
and

Code: Select all

equo libtest

and everything goes well :)
I really hope to learn and know better sabayon
has always fascinated me

thank you

also me.... i'm using Sabayon since 2007. For me, it is the best Linux Distribution.

SULFUR (discontinued) was substituted by RIGO, some years ago. I have in mind that it was made using new code, from scratch.

magneto is the notifier.

Yes, your command is good:

Code: Select all

equo install entropy equo rigo
OR

Code: Select all

equo install entropy equo rigo magneto
You also, if you prefer, to use RIGO for install packages, change repositories etc... for example, rigo can be used for "switch off" the weakly repo and add Sabayonlinux and/or Limbo repos.
