Remove xscreensaver in favor of slock [Solved]

Post by bones » Sun Feb 01, 2015 20:04

I am wanting to remove xscreensaver and instead use slock for screenlocking, but I fear that in doing so, I will remove xfce4-meta and xfce4-session:

Code: Select all

[email protected] ~ $ sudo equo remove xscreensaver --ask
╠ @@ These are the packages that would be removed:
╠ ## [sabayonlinux.org] xfce-base/xfce4-meta-4.10 [0.0b]
╠ ## [sabayonlinux.org] xfce-base/xfce4-session-4.11.0-r3 [1.9MB]
╠ ## [sabayonlinux.org] x11-misc/xscreensaver-5.32 [31.5MB]
╠ @@ Packages that would be removed: 3
╠ @@ Freed disk space: 33.5MB
╠ @@ Total bandwidth wasted: 8.7MB
Would you like to proceed ? [Yes/No]
Am I understanding this correctly? Can I remove ONLY xscreensaver somehow, and still retain xfce4-meta and xfce4-session?
BSD is what you get when a bunch of UNIX hackers sit down to try to port a UNIX system to the PC.
Linux is what you get when a bunch of PC hackers sit down and try to write a UNIX system for the PC.

is easy to be "so-so solved" the problem with this.

Use commands in form that not remove your deps: example:

Code: Select all

# equo rm -av --nodeps xscreensaver
