Updates borking system

Post by HawkEye4077 » Mon Jan 26, 2015 21:09

Hi Folks,

I did some updates yesterday and foolishly didn't reboot my system to test. Came back to it today to start PC and the system got stuck in some kind of loop. I couldn't get a terminal nor could I get the scrolling text to stop to see what the issue was. After a while I gave up and re-installed the system as I needed a pc. As I had done a mirrorsort before I did the updates yesterday I 'hoped' that somehow that was the cause of the issue.

After the install I needed to install some more software, which automatically pulled in all the updates and the system borked again - same problem.

I have just finished re-installing for a second time but now I can't install any additional software as I am scared it will trash the PC again.

I realise there is not much here to go on but for now I would settle for being able to install software without pulling in the recent updates.

Any advice accepted gratefully.

Regards
Neil

Hi Thanks for this - that helps.

IIRC there is a way to exclude things in equo / rigo. Am I correct ?

If so anyone any suggestions how I can exclude the 340 drivers so I can update my system and get things like view working :)
