No recent updates? [Solved]

Post by HawkEye4077 » Fri Dec 12, 2014 18:48

Hi,

I have not seen / had any updates on my system for a week or two recently. Is there a freeze in place or is my system stuffed?

Cheers
Neil

Maybe try

Code: Select all

equo update --force
and then

Code: Select all

equo u -a
and see if it wants to download some upgrades? I think I had that situation once.

What repos do you have activated? Weekly? Sabayonlinux.org (+limbo)?

No update here last week. Weekly on three machines.

Just followed your suggestions ElDuderino, but still nothing to update.

Hi

Just tried what you suggested and like tollgate no updates, this is the output I got

Code: Select all

abayon neil # equo u -a
╠ @@ Calculating System Updates:
╠ @@ Nothing to update.
╠ @@ On the system there are packages that are not available anymore in the online repositories.
╠ @@ Even if they are usually harmless, it is suggested (after proper verification) to remove them.
╠ @@ These are the packages that should be MANUALLY removed:
╠ ## [sabayonlinux.org] sys-devel/libperl-5.10.1 [565.2kB]
╠ ## [sabayonlinux.org] perl-core/Test-Harness-3.290.0 [384.0kB]
╠ ## [sabayonlinux.org] virtual/python-argparse-1 [0.0b]
╠ ## [sabayonlinux.org] kde-base/kdeartwork-sounds-4.11.5 [1.5MB]
╠ ## [sabayonlinux.org] kde-misc/kcm_touchpad-0.3.1-r1 [145.8kB]
╠ @@ Nothing to remove.

☛ There is 1 preserved library on the system
╠ /usr/lib64/librpm.so.3 [librpm.so.3:2 -> app-arch/rpm-4.11.1]
sabayon neil #
I doubt any of these would stop updates completely. So while it is not causing me any issues as such I don't know how to fix this.

I just have the weekly repo enabled.

The packages that are not in the repos anymore are not the reason for you not getting any upgrades. I'm on sabayonlinux.org+limbo, btw. It's probably normal, and you will get upgrades at some point (Christmas? ;-) ).

You can remove those packages with

Code: Select all

equo u -a --purge
Be careful to check if it wants to remove something important.

Hi

Thanks for the info, I always forget that simple command to tidy the system :)

On a good note I got the updates today after I Installed the latest kernel (3.16) yesterday. I don't know if the two events are related but that is certainly a big coincidence if they are not :)

Anyway I am getting updates so that suits me.

Thanks for the advice folks.

Well today I have 337 updates to download. I guess last week everything was working correctly and there just weren't any updates to download.
