how to save installed packages and install on a new system?

How do you save a list of installed packages and install these packages later on a new system? I really crashed my system and I don't seem to be able to save it so I want to wipe my hard drive and start over. Thanks!

If you can't boot your system at least in recovery mode, you will probably need to chroot in it.

You can get the list of installed packages with
Code: Select all
equo query list installed -q
Just redirect it to a file so you can reuse the list.

Or you can use equo rescue, see the man page for the details.

Thanks. The problem is much deeper than that. It has no internet and it lost the boot and home dir. It lost all its LVM partitions. They are there but it will not mount them. I have no idea what happened. Perhaps a HD failure but they all seem fine now.

Here is a link to my trying to salvage the install but it is starting to look hopeless. On the other hand I would love to fix it instead of reinstalling, if you know a way. I am in over my head with this problem.
