repositories.conf.d (Weekly) [Solved]

Post by DeadlyWolf » Tue Apr 16, 2013 10:00

I noticed while updating the last two weeks, it has been slower than in the past and was using a different mirror than previously. So I looked at repositories.conf.d and it had changed from this

Code: Select all

# weekly
repository = sabayon-weekly|Sabayon Linux Official Repository|http://dl.sabayon.org/entropy|http://pkg.sabayon.org#bz2
repository = sabayon-weekly||http://redir.sabayon.org/entropy|
repository = sabayon-weekly||http://ftp.kddilabs.jp/Linux/packages/sabayonlinux/entropy|
repository = sabayon-weekly||http://gd.tuwien.ac.at/opsys/linux/sabayonlinux/entropy|
repository = sabayon-weekly||ftp://ftp.riken.jp/Linux/sabayon/entropy|
repository = sabayon-weekly||http://mirror.optusnet.com.au/sabayon/entropy|
repository = sabayon-weekly||http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/sabayon/entropy|
repository = sabayon-weekly||http://sabayon.c3sl.ufpr.br/entropy|
repository = sabayon-weekly||http://mirror.clarkson.edu/sabayon/entropy|
repository = sabayon-weekly||http://cross-lfs.sabayonlinux.org/entropy|
repository = sabayon-weekly||http://mirror.umd.edu/sabayonlinux/entropy|
repository = sabayon-weekly||http://best.sabayon.org/entropy|
repository = sabayon-weekly||ftp://ftp.rnl.ist.utl.pt/pub/sabayon/entropy|
repository = sabayon-weekly||http://ftp.cc.uoc.gr/mirrors/linux/SabayonLinux/entropy|
repository = sabayon-weekly||http://na.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/sabayonlinux/entropy|
repository = sabayon-weekly||http://debian.mirror.dkm.cz/sabayon/entropy|
repository = sabayon-weekly||ftp://ftp.klid.dk/sabayonlinux/entropy|
repository = sabayon-weekly||http://pkg.sabayon.org|
repository = sabayon-weekly||http://ftp.fsn.hu/pub/linux/distributions/sabayon/entropy|
repository = sabayon-weekly||ftp://ftp.belnet.be/mirror/sabayonlinux/entropy|
repository = sabayon-weekly||ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/sabayonlinux/entropy|
repository = sabayon-weekly||http://mirror.freelydifferent.com/sabayon/entropy|
repository = sabayon-weekly||http://ftp.surfnet.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/sabayonlinux/entropy|
To this

Code: Select all

# Repository configuration file automatically generated
# by Entropy on your behalf.

[sabayon-weekly]
desc = Sabayon Linux Official Repository
repo = http://pkg.sabayon.org#bz2
enabled = true
pkg = http://redir.sabayon.org/entropy
pkg = http://dl.sabayon.org/entropy
pkg = http://na.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/sabayonlinux/entropy
pkg = http://pkg.sabayon.org
pkg = http://best.sabayon.org/entropy

My questions are, is this correct? and all those other mirrors are no longer available?

No, what you did is not correct. :oops:
Do this:
1) Edit the file related to the selected repo (weekly in your case) In the dir /etc/entropy/repositories.conf.d there is a file 'entropy_sabayon-weekly'
2) As the repo relating to their area of origin are the fastest

Code: Select all

# Yes Optus Mirror, Australia
repository = sabayon-weekly | | http://mirror.optusnet.com.au/sabayon/entropy |
repository = sabayon-weekly | | ftp://mirror.optusnet.com.au/sabayon/entropy |
must be placed in the last position.
Save and reboot 8)
Ciao

@OP: you are using the new syntax, cool!
Now just let "equo repo mirrorsort sabayon-weekly" do its job

Thanks for your reply, I understand.
I added the fastest mirrors for me, http://mirror.optusnet.com.au/sabayon/entropy and http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/sabayon/entropy, and ran equo repo mirrorsort sabayon-weekly, so etc/entropy/repostories.conf.d now is

Code: Select all

# Repository configuration file automatically generated
# by Entropy on your behalf.

[sabayon-weekly]
desc = Sabayon Linux Official Repository
repo = http://pkg.sabayon.org#bz2
enabled = true
pkg = http://best.sabayon.org/entropy
pkg = http://dl.sabayon.org/entropy
pkg = http://na.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/sabayonlinux/entropy
pkg = http://redir.sabayon.org/entropy
pkg = http://pkg.sabayon.org
pkg = http://mirror.optusnet.com.au/sabayon/entropy
pkg = http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/sabayon/entropy

So the repo list is valid? We will modify the wiki accordingly then.

I tried this recently :

Code: Select all

sabayon ~ # equo repo list
* sabayonlinux.org
    Sabayon Linux Official Repository
sabayon ~ # equo repo mirrorsort sabayonlinux.org
>>  @@ Mirror speed: redir.sabayon.org, 187.5kB/sec
>>  @@ Mirror speed: dl.sabayon.org, 277.3kB/sec
>>  @@ Mirror speed: best.sabayon.org, 97.2kB/sec
>>  @@ Mirror speed: pkg.sabayon.org, 698.9kB/sec
>>  @@ Mirror speed: na.mirror.garr.it, 208.1kB/sec
>>  @@ Mirror speed: bali.idrepo.or.id, 0.0b/sec

>>   3. http://na.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/sabayonlinux/entropy
>>   4. http://redir.sabayon.org/entropy
>>   5. http://best.sabayon.org/entropy
>>   6. http://bali.idrepo.or.id/sabayon/entropy
>> [sabayonlinux.org] mirrors sorted successfully
But then equo is still installing from http://na.mirror.garr.it :

Code: Select all

>>    ## Téléchargement: 2 archives
>>    ## ( mirror #1 ) [kde-base:kdm-4.10.2.8415d6182eea48427d07c2ad4d2dc1274ec2e62b~1.tbz2] @ http://na.mirror.garr.it
>>    ## ( mirror #1 ) [net-misc:networkmanager-0.9.6.4.b7941bd0195c0d6ee6a07f7e6d0fb51522b97293~6.tbz2] @ http://na.mirror.garr.it
Yesterday it was incredibly slow, I postpone update which went fine today in good time.
But it should go for the faster on the list is it ????

Hi,
I still have the same behaviour today.
I cant get equo using something else than 193.206.140.37 (mirror2.mirror.garr.it.)
However mirrorsort gives much better response from http://best.sabayon.org/entropy (149.132.176.64 in Italy too).

Code: Select all

>>    # [1] na.mirror.garr.it => sys-kernel:linux-sabayon-3.8.8.294b1cbf17a51f150db62cbfc5a7707be9608448~1.tbz2
>> 1944.0/52395.3 kB <->   3% [>         ] => 97.9kB/seconde(s) : Temps restant estimé: 8m:35s
Here is the entropy_sabayonlinux.org

Code: Select all

[sabayonlinux.org]
desc = Sabayon Linux Official Repository
repo = http://pkg.sabayon.org#bz2
enabled = true
pkg = http://bali.idrepo.or.id/sabayon/entropy
pkg = http://na.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/sabayonlinux/entropy
pkg = http://pkg.sabayon.org
pkg = http://redir.sabayon.org/entropy
pkg = http://dl.sabayon.org/entropy
pkg = http://best.sabayon.org/entropy
I tried to modify manually the file, equo clean all I could but no chance still going same server.
How can I change server where I download the packages from ??
