This is the place to report bugs for SL https://bugs.sabayon.org/

I've just done a quick search there and no libgtk reports came up.

So, this proofs, that gtklibs are the cause for weird appearing. And I assume in every programme, which uses gtklibs, those problems can appear.
I'd call it a bug, so hereby I'd like to ask, to whom I can send gtk bugs (moderators?).

Hope to help anyway. At the moment, I'll work with old gtk-libraries.

Gnome shell with rectangles instead of text [Solved]

Postby Ryuno-Ki » Tue Jan 22, 2013 23:55

Hello,
today, someone reported a behaviour like this with GNOME shell. The solution is described here:
Code: Select all
# equo install x11-libs/gdk-pixbuf x11-libs/gtk+:2 x11-libs/gtk+:3 x11-libs/pango

You may reboot to let the update take effect.

Thank you for the hint. I don't receive notices about updates (or upgrades), I don't know, why...
So, I updated the repositories manually and was informed, there are 7 updates, including Rigo, Magneto ...
Before upgrade system then, I replaced the old libgtk-files by the latest ones and then started Rigo to see, that (old) Rigo with (latest) libgtk-files is still weird.
Then I started the system upgrade. After finishing, I close Rigo and relaunched it.

The result is fine. With latest libgtk-files and Rigo-171, Rigo looks normal now.

Though, I haven't any clue, why latest libgtk-files weird Rigo-167 ...
Anyway, I will close this thread as 'Solved'.

Square boxes instead of letters [Solved]

Postby pottzie » Sat Jan 26, 2013 0:03

I've just installed Sabayon to my Compaq Presario r3000. When I first booted into Sabayon, I had text that I could read, but since doing the first upgrade/update, all "system" text has disappeared, and I have square boxes instead of text. Text that shows in the browser, as when I'm typing this message, is fine, so thankfully I can use the keyboard, and search Google, etc. But anything that the operating system shows is garbage. If it weren't for the icons, I wouldn't have been able to open Chromium to post this!

Is this a common problem, and is there a solution for it?

How much memory do you have, and which version of Sabayon did you install?

If you're using gnome this is probably your answer:
