Latest updates ... not [Solved]

Postby B3rtm3n » Mon Jan 14, 2013 20:47

I upgraded to kde 4.9.5

After reboot cairo-dock refuses to boot

I get following message when trying to boot in terminal:

Code: Select all
cairo-dock: error while loading shared libraries: libpangox-1.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Has anyone had similar issues and a solution?

thanks in advance

ok, you need to install pangox-compat

Code: Select all
equo install pangox-compat

Cairo-dock will boot but with error warning and most settings will be lost
(you were 1 minute before me ;-) )

So I did

Code: Select all
equo install x11-libs/pango

and get following error when trying to boot cairo-dock in terminal:

    warning : (/var/tmp/portage/x11-misc/cairo-dock-3.0.2/work/cairo-dock-3.0.2/src/gldit/cairo-dock-dbus.c:cairo_dock_get_session_connection:41)
Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
    _dbus_detect_application_async: assertion `cName != NULL && pProxy != NULL' failed

Cairo-dock gives an error that it is unable to load the plugins and quits after that

Code: Select all
equo install cairo-dock-themes

and

Code: Select all
equo install cairo-dock-plugins

did not solve the issue either

the problem was similar to mine, but without pango, and with the library GLU.

I solved re-installing Cairo-dock-plugins, and in my system, GLU (in your, Pango).
May be some dependence in the Cairo-Dock Tree or in the Flags used in compilation.

in your case, seems that this not solve. You may tru to re-install the lib x11-libs/cairo

ok, I did

Code: Select all
equo install x11-libs/cairo

still same error

However I found this link
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-94 ... odock.html

maybe it holds the key to the solution as it is the same problem I have but I do not understand how to solve it

Infinality profile seems missing
Code: Select all
Fontconfig error: Cannot load config file "infinality/conf.d"

Run :
Code: Select all
# eselect infinality list

Choose once (I suggest "Linux")
Code: Select all
# eselect infinality set <N>

PS :
Code: Select all
# equo search infinality

when doing

Code: Select all
eselect infinality list

I get the following:

[1] debug
[2] infinality
[3] linux
[4] nyx
[5] osx
[6] osx2
[7] win7
[8] win98
[9] winxp

so I did

Code: Select all
eselect 3

and get the following error:

Can't load module 3
exiting

and also

Code: Select all
equo search infinality

gives me the following :

Hm, I just wonder, why there is mentioned portage. On purpose? Are you mixing the package managers here? Just wanted to pointed out …

Am I bout to learn something new?

I use Entropy Store and have Rigo installed just to give it a try

main system updates are done by terminal.

Just thought all were using same back end or am I wrong?

I got steam already installed twice so already figured something was wrong ...

Do not find it very clear how it is explained in wiki
never understood difference in portage and entropy
to make it more difficult the package manager says entropy store and sulfur in kde and the wiki talks about Equo client (textual), Sulfur and Rigo client

can't see the wood for the trees or not see the forest for the trees
