A library problem [Solved]

When I try and run skype I get this error:

Code: Select all

./skype: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I asked about this in the IRC but needed to get to bed before it was resolved, I was asked if I installed skype thru entropy -- I did, I got it using equo. It also did work at one point, before an equo upgrade.

I do see a libstdc++.so.6 file in /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.5.3/ and attempted a symbolic link to /usr/lib32/ but then I get this error message with skype

Code: Select all

./skype: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: wrong EFL class: ELFCLASS64
I'm no expert, but I'm guessing that means I need a 32bit lib and not a 64bit one.

Just kind of at a loss for how to address this issue.

you must install gcc-4.4.5 on entropy and later libstdc++-v3-3.3.6 and virtual:libstdc++-3.3.

Now skype working with sabayon 7 32 and 64 bit

Well gosh that was simple. I had 4.5.3-r1 already, did equo install gcc-4.4.5 and it's working fine now.

Thank you.
