Sha256 Disable and Sha512 Disable (how to turn them on)

Postby krusmira » Thu Feb 11, 2010 1:09

Hi,

I couldn't help but notice that Sha 256 and sha 512 have been disable for some time now.
For example:

Code: Select all
>>    ## Package checksum matches: app-emulation:emul-linux-x86-qtlibs-20091231~0.tbz2
>>       : GPG matches
>>       : SHA1 matches
>>       : SHA256 disabled
>>       : SHA512 disabled

How can i reenable them?
I don't feel very "safe" with this feature off, but still i cant find any option to reenable them again.

Thanks in advance.

Entropy has since been upgraded to use GnuPGP which is much more secure. All packages are signed and verified via GnuPGP which means additional checks are no longer needed. You are in fact a lot more safe than before (and more safe than most other distros too 8) ).

True, GPG is awesome!

Does this mean that Sha1, Sha256 and Sha512 checksum matches will be disable in the future? (since Sha1 is still working).

Just wondering.

Sha1 will probably be kept, the others may be removed in the future.
