Broken X server after initial equo update

Postby Jeff91 » Sat Aug 29, 2009 17:27

So after running the equo update for the first time after installing Sabayon I restart my computer to a broken X server... I'm assuming this is because the first update upgrades the kernel? Anywho I was able to get the system live again by reinstalling my nVidia drivers from terminal, but I could see where this would confuse and put off someone who did not have much of an idea of what they are doing with a fresh nix install. Perhaps you should make it so it re-compiles the gfx driver version (or at the very least un-installs them) when you do a kernel upgrade?

Perhaps the name of that thread should be changed then... "World Updating 101 Pre 4.2 -- Read before World Updating --" Was just making sure you where aware the problem still exists in 4.2

This is not a problem. updating the nvidia drivers after updating the kernel in normal..., regular.
the thred instructions can be followed fo install and reset the drivers, e then the boot can be made in the new kernel, the kernel that is updated,
