Wake up from suspend

Postby vnandak » Tue Jun 23, 2009 12:54

HI,

I recently ( in fact today!) updated the world using latest version of Sulfur package manager, the NVIDIA driver also updated. After updating while waking up from suspend, I am seeing thick band of white lines on the screen for a few seconds, also the splash screen during shutdown switch to text terminal and showing some ' broadcasting .. halt ..' message before shuts down.

Is there any way to roll back to previous driver?

Thanks in advance.
Mine is SL 4.1 version 64 bit.

I'd try to fire up a terminal, and do as root:

Code: Select all
equo search nvidia-drivers

this will list all nvidia drivers available.
then run:
Code: Select all
equo install =nvidia-drivers-<version>

(notice the '=' before the package)
with the full version, for example:
Code: Select all
equo install --ask =nvidia-drivers-180.37-r1

be careful, you must be sure that the driver matches your kernel.
After the installation, be sure to execute:
Code: Select all
eselect opengl set nvidia

and reboot.

Thanks Micia, I'll try that. I should've ensured the ratings stars before installing the updates :)

Hi all,

Further to add the problem, Yesterday, I did a full update of my system, Thisngs are ok except the suspned. While waking up from suspend, the screen shows thick bands of white lines for 5 secs then shows the lock up screen .

My system details:
Kernel Linux 2.6.29 _ sabayon
Gnome 2.26.2
Nvidia X-86_64 driver version 185.18.14
Xorg 1.5.3
X11.

Is there any file like "/etc/default/acpi-support" in sabayon?

It seems the driver 185.18.* has some issues. I had same problems in ubuntu and pardus also. I had to rollback to some older versions. Now it's ok.
Thanks to all for the suggestions.
