Zenana Community Repo

What is it?
An Entropy community repository! It contains some stuff I thought looks interesting (and currently plans on) bringing together the best from the various gentoo overlays. It also contains some updated builds from portage that have yet to make it into the main repo.

Whats a community repository?
Community Repositories are user-managed packages repositories, users can recompile packages with different settings, add their own ones and make all available to other people. Repository publishers are responsible of how a package is compiled and what is compiled.
Please note: Ccmmunity Features are a newly implimented feature, and are prone to be broken with Entropy upgrades, please be patient with me as I have to change the config to work properly!

An example of what Zenana & Sabayon can do:
Different Wallpapers on KDE using compiz wallpaper plug in! Thats right the compiz-fusions wallpaper plug-in works with KDE!

How do I use it?
Add this line to your /etc/entropy/repositories.conf:

Code: Select all
repository|zenana|v00d00 Zenana|http://zenana.v00d00.net|http://zenana.v00d00.net#bz2

Whats in it?
To much to list, see http://zenana.v00d00.net/standard/zenana/packages/ or http://zenana.v00d00.net/standard/zenan ... pdates.rss

How do I Use it
Add this line to your /etc/entropy/repositories.conf
Code: Select all
repository|zenana|v00d00 Zenana|http://v00d00.net/zenana|http://v00d00.net/zenana#bz2

Update your repositories and your away.

Do you provide x86-64 packages?
Only x86-64 will be provided from now on as this is the future proof and dominant architecture, there are some x86 packages and x86 packages will be added on request.

What Sabayon Version do you need?
A 3.5 branch, so 3.5 loop1,2,3 RC1,RC2,RC3 or Final

What does Zenana mean?
According to Wikipedia: the part of the house reserved for the women of the household! which I didn't realise until I just checked lol! I just thought it sounded a cool name TBH :D :D

Can I request packages?
If you want to, just give me an ebuild and I will see what I can do :D just reply or email me [email protected]

Should we have a sticky topic where people can informed of all the different community repo's and what they have in them?

That sounds like a lovely idea. Doing that now, at least until a wiki comes up with them.

That is why a wiki pages would be better - they can update the page themselves and include all important information. It's too much to keep one post maintained since a user can't edit a sticky. We can just have one post pointing to a wiki page with all the information.

Maybe voodoo should start the wiki page?

Ill start the wiki page at some point today :D

Perhaps it would also good for each repo (or at least the larger ones) to have their own page? To describe what they are about etc? :P

id rather be raped than use ubuntu. but the answer is going to be arch as soon as my classes are over. i would go back to slackware but its too much of a pain for a desktop. after that i did gentoo and realized it was a waste of time and sabayon was closer to what i wanted.
