Yep, it sure does show Grub2 !!! Guess I was on the computer to early in the morning.....at least that is the excuse I will use. When it was released on Distro Watch, it for sure does not mention it there, I just looked at it again. I am Grub2's biggest fan.

^Well, in that case it sounds like you are the right guy to write a How To in the SL Wiki, or a thread in the SL Forums, explaining to Grub1 users how to install/upgrade, configure and use Grub2. :)

Thanks you Fitzcarraldo, I would love to but as you can see by when I joined the SL forums and the number of posts I have made, unfortunetly I do not have suffient time to spend on it unless something changes and I don't see that happening anytime soon.

^The Press Release is not the place to post support questions. Please create a thread with your request for help in the appropriate SL Shed (Forum). Thanks.

I installed Sabayon 5.1 from scratch a couple of weeks ago and there was a plenty of updates. Probably 5.2 is the same as my working system. I love new skin and improved design and effects for both gnome and kde, great job!

Not sure what you mean, Ianni.

To keep up to date, all you need to do periodically is:

Code: Select all

equo update
to update the Entropy database on your PC (the database is essentially the list of available packages and their versions), and:

Code: Select all

equo upgrade --ask
to update everything to the latest release (add the "--ask" in case there is a package you do not want to upgrade, or to review easily the packages that will be upgraded).

You should also keep the Portage database on your PC up to date periodically too:

Code: Select all

emerge --sync && layman -S
That's it, basically. So no need to download ISOs for LiveDVDs.

Regarding repositories, 'branches' and the more detailed aspects, see the SL Wiki articles on Entropy. The one to start reading is: http://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?title=Entropy
