F-Prot or Sophos on Sabayon?

Hello, I know, F-Prot or Sophos are not present even in Gentoo repos, but I need to install some antivirus as request from my employer in order to work from home safely.

Did anybody successfully installed and used those?

Or any other that is better and offers protection in real-time?

Thanks!

Sofos does not offer a Linux version to my knowledge.
If you or your employer are willing to pay for the F-PROT Antivirus for Linux workstations, then consult any issues with their support ;)

I also wonder what do you mean by real time protection?

Personally I would stick with app-antivirus/clamav. There are ways how to integrate it with different applications, f.ex. your browser or email client. And if you need a GUI, that is also available app-antivirus/clamtk.

When they say Sabayon is not supported, I ask if somebody successfully used in on Sabayon.

Real-time protection means watching and preventing execution of some known threat, especially when a malware comes from the browser.

clamtk seem sto be broken, as some dependency failed:

Are you sure you want to use something which is apparently not actively developed and in addition pay for it?
Latest product versions:
Product Version Date
F-PROT Antivirus for Linux 6.2.39 January 2013
At least they offer a trial so you have the chance to try it: http://www.f-prot.com/download/trial/

I have asked them, but no feed-back so far in weeks, so I'll look for something else.
Sophos is unclear, they gave a Linux version, but it's for business and seem to have dropped the standalone version in one version, so the next version needs centralized management on their site, which is unacceptable.
Avast is also at business level, very expensive.
Possibly Eset have some solution.
I keep looking.

Just found the version for Linux by Sophos, "free", all you need is to provide your personal details and accept the EULA of course... https://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/f ... linux.aspx

Not sure if some kind of subscription is required.
Also it's without any kind of support.

Yes, but there is a newer version too... With support and centralized management. I don't want that.

There are some other commercial offerings for Linux, f.ex. by Eset, F-Secure and Bitdefender.
But still I would prefer ClamAV.

F-Secure support never answered, so I'll pass.
Is Bitdefender acquired by Microsoft? I've had that impression. It's know to be good.
Maybe I'll go for one of Bitdefender or Eset.
ClamAV I use now, but the UI is broken on Sabayon..
