XFCE4-Screensaver: Password is always wrong. [Solved]

Post by Alexander88207 » Sat Mar 02, 2019 11:17

Hi,

this lockscreen reports all the time that the password is wrong, although it is correct.

Would be grateful for any help :)

i have changed that i am allowed to read the file etc/shadow.

To get this done i have used an file explorer with root rights.

for XFCE: sudo thunar
for KDE: pkexec env DISPLAY=$DISPLAY XAUTHORITY=$XAUTHORITY KDE_SESSION_VERSION=5 KDE_FULL_SESSION=true dolphin

I don't know if it's a security risk, but otherwise I couldn't solve it.

..and reinstalling sys-libs/pam ???

changing /etc/shadow permissions you'll expose all encrypted passwords for all registered users/groups in the system
The file could be edited by everyone.
