Latest Kernels and dracut issues

From 4.14.68 kernel and later boot fails. (4.16, 4.18... also )
Dracut seems to refuse to load/save many modules when starting to regenerate the initramfs.
I can't login.
Rescue Mode fails also.

Back to 4.14.67 (from my previous backup)

Now I'm updating KDE but not the kernel and its related dependencies.

(net-misc/lldpad & C. removed)

Got into the same. Sabayon won't boot. lldptool boot loop or when I'm lucky, dracut debug shell.
lldpad and fcoe-utils not installed. Intel graphics. sabayon-weekly, revision 3832

Managed chrooot, tried reinstalling kernel (4.14.68, 4.18.7) but getting error:

Code: Select all

dracut-install: ERROR: installing '/etc/idmapd.conf'
dracut: FAILED ...
Edit: After reboot and some waiting dracut complains that it couldn't boot, lv_root does not exist and I am dropped into debug shell

How to fix?

on the dracut shell you should be able to type in "exit" and the system loads. (not 100% sure)

Anyway.

Today we bumped all the kernels in main repo and we think we resolved all the problems with bad modules being loaded and the blacklist being ignored.

So please update and test.
(if you are on weekly repo you should not have dracut enabled kernels yet, we never pushed weekly with that)

No, after exit I was dropped into debug shell again.

Yes, updating to sys-kernel/linux-sabayon-4.18.9 helps and I'm able to boot again. Thank you, joost!
