Script to change Appearance?

Hi all,
I use Sabayon MATE, generally with the Green Laguna theme, but when in the pic viewer gThumb i like the dark background of Black MATE. Is there a way to write a script that switches to Black MATE when gThumb is opened, and back to Green Laguna when i leave the picture browser? Of course this is not a pressing issue. I have the appearance icon in my taskbar so can change it with a few extra clicks. My main reason for asking is that i know there are tons of shortcuts that can be created by scripts, but have never written or used one. Aways curious to learn...

Not on MATE so I can't give you the exact instructions just a brief guide.
Look for the command that switches the theme and then build your script as follows:
- create a trap when gThumb exits to set the theme to default (see man bash for more info)
- switch theme
- start gThumb

I would call the script gthumb and put it into /usr/local/bin.
