- The laptop system fails to complete the boot process and hangs with a stopwatch mouse pointer displayed, that can be moved around but there is no response to any keyboard input and the power has to be forced off. The desktop system however does complete the boot process.
- On both systems the graphics is messed up, there appears to be a failure to detect the screen size or resolution resulting in very large text and icons. On the desktop system the screen size is set as 1024x768 (or similar) instead of its actual 1440x900 size and hence a large portion of the display is missing.
Is there anything I might be able to do to further identify the cause of the problem?
Are there any configuration file or other changes that might fix the problem?
Luckily I have retained kernel 3.13 and I am able to boot and use both systems with that kernel, so waiting for the next bug-fix kernel release of 3.14.1 may be a better or easier option?
