Which keyboard is avialable? Onboard? Florence? Other?

Which DE do you use? There are several on-screen keyboards available. In Gnome Shell you can find it built-in in the accessibility menu and for KDE it's available as a plasmoid.

Well then, florence is the way to go. Or choose whatever is most convenient, for example matchbox-keyboard, which is already in the repositories.
