Profile error? [Solved]

Postby tekwyzrd » Sat May 11, 2013 16:47

When I run equo update I get the message:

Code: Select all
Indexing Repository metadata ...
>>  @@ /etc/make.profile: link differs. Updating.
>>  @@ /etc/make.profile: new link does not exist. Reverting.

If I run eselect profile list I get:

Code: Select all
Available profile symlink targets:
  [1]   default/linux/amd64/10.0
  [2]   default/linux/amd64/10.0/selinux
  [3]   default/linux/amd64/10.0/desktop *
  [4]   default/linux/amd64/10.0/desktop/gnome
  [5]   default/linux/amd64/10.0/desktop/kde
  [6]   default/linux/amd64/10.0/developer
  [7]   default/linux/amd64/10.0/no-multilib
  [8]   default/linux/amd64/10.0/server
  [9]   hardened/linux/amd64
  [10]  hardened/linux/amd64/selinux
  [11]  hardened/linux/amd64/no-multilib
  [12]  hardened/linux/amd64/no-multilib/selinux
  [13]  hardened/linux/uclibc/amd64

Should I assume the 13.0 profiles will be included in a future update?

In addition to this post I've submitted the info above to bugzilla.

Doesn't the asterisk indicate that profile is already selected?

Probably you first need to
Code: Select all
emerge --sync
then set your profile.

I'm already using 13.0
Code: Select all
$ eselect profile list
Available profile symlink targets:
  [1]   default/linux/amd64/13.0
  [2]   default/linux/amd64/13.0/selinux
  [3]   default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop *
  [4]   default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop/gnome
  [5]   default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop/kde
  [6]   default/linux/amd64/13.0/developer
  [7]   default/linux/amd64/13.0/no-multilib
  [8]   default/linux/amd64/13.0/x32
  [9]   hardened/linux/amd64
  [10]  hardened/linux/amd64/selinux
  [11]  hardened/linux/amd64/no-multilib
  [12]  hardened/linux/amd64/no-multilib/selinux
  [13]  hardened/linux/uclibc/amd64

If you haven't used portage before, please, read the Wiki first and specially the part about how to mix portage and entropy safely.

I know. I did. Won't know the outcome until the next set of updates.

Thank you svantoviit - you were correct.

Running 'eselect profile set 3" with the 10.0 profiles didn't help. Running "emerge sync" followed by "eselect profile list" showed addition of v13.0 profiles and "eselect profile set 3" seems to have resolved the situation. I hadn't synced portage lately and have only been using the entropy system to install (as recommended) so I find it interesting that sabayon relies on the gentoo repositories for profiles rather than handling it through the recommended package management system.
