gcc problem after update

Postby gian666 » Sun Apr 14, 2013 23:17

Like in a previous thread (viewtopic.php?f=59&t=29638) I got a gcc-config errror:

gcc-config: error: could not run/locate 'gcc'

I tried the same solution (since it is a known issue https://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?title=Known_Issues#04.2F07.2F13_gcc-config:_error:_could_not_run.2Flocate_.27gcc.27) but now I get the lies below, that seem rather strange to me

xxxxxx Desktop #
gcc-config x86_64-pc-linux-gcc-4.7.2 -f
* gcc-config: Could not locate 'x86_64-pc-linux-gcc-4.7.2' in '/etc/env.d/gcc/' !
xxxxxx Desktop # ls /etc/env.d/gcc/
config-x86_64-pc-linux-gnu x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.7.2
x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.6.3 x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.7.2-hardenednopie
x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.6.3-hardenednopie x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.7.2-hardenednopiessp
x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.6.3-hardenednopiessp x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.7.2-hardenednossp
x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.6.3-hardenednossp x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.7.2-vanilla
x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.6.3-vanilla
venera Desktop #

moreover, gcc seems to work anyway, but I have compilation errors on software that usually compiled with no errors or warnings.... specifically:

"...relocation R_X86_64_32 against `.rodata.str1.1' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC..."

The same code compiles cleanly on a Linux Mint system using gcc 4.7.2 (and compiled with no problems until 2 days ago also on my sabayon system)

does anyone have any idea on how to solve this
