Recently i got some .eps files created with freehand. I tried to open then with inkscape or scribus, but both programs
couldnt open them. Am i missing some additional packages to open these files ? A friend of mine with suse 12.2 can open them without any problems. Ghostscript is installed correctly.

A known issue on Inkscape forums.
Evince will open eps files as will LibreOffice and Libre will Export to PDF which Inkscape should read.
Or Use a Utility to convert to PDF online.
Criticism accepted for Solutions that work. ;^)

I just tried opening a couple of EPS files in Inkscape. One was from Illustrator CS4 and the other CS6. Both opened OK. My Inkscape version is 0.48 and I have not added to it or modified it in any way. I think Freehand is old software now, maybe 10 years + but not sure, so it's age may be the problem
