Running Android Apps Under Virtualbox

Postby nobicycle » Sat Mar 30, 2013 5:53

Hi,
Anybody tried this:
http://androvm.org/Download/androVM_vbox86tp_4.1.1_r6.1-20130222-gapps-houdini-flash.ova
?

The OVA needs importing into Virtualbox, and memory set to 128 M. Go into main preferences to set a Host Only adaptor. Set net interface 1 on the imported VM to be Host Only.

In my case it runs, an IP address is displayed OK during bootup, but the initial script, whereby a Google account is entered fails. No matter how many attempts, control is returned to the Welcome screen.

Some Angry Birds addicts are suffering since our Android phone was stolen. :-)

Hm, I once tried SL4A for writing python apps for android:

Note: Alpha quality + in first place for developers.

But I wonder, why it isn't possible to run Google Play Applications natively

However, have you tried to play Angry Birds in Chromium?

Ryuno-Ki,
I agree with you it would be nice to run Android apps natively. The link you posted has aour Benevolent Dictator saying " Sabayon now supports Android Market Applications natively, both installation and runtime execution (through the Dalvik Java VM)."
Wow!
let me check further and get back

Yes tried Chromium, thanks.

It was last years April Fool joke.
Damn.
Would appreciate it if someone could try Virtualbox with the above OVA.
