Flash and Firefox on the BBC News site....[Solved]

Postby greendave8 » Mon Dec 24, 2012 11:19

Hi Everyone,
Since the update to Linux 3.7 kernel, the BBC website says
"Cannot play media. You do not have the correct version of the flash player. Download the correct version"
The version in Rigo is older than the one in the link above...

You tube works fine....Will this new version of Flash be appearing in Rigo soon?

Happy holidays too one and all

What version is it that they need 11.5? From what I see on adobe site, 11.2 is latest flash version available for linux and we have that in the repo.

The latest versions are 11.5.502.135(Win), 11.5.502.136(Mac), 11.3.377.15 (Windows 8) and 11.2.202.258 (Linux).

Oh I see .258 is the difference - Please see this for package request viewtopic.php?f=76&t=13891

Strangely, Opera web browser does play the video's, without problem. Firefox and Chrome both give the message in my original post?
Very strange....

Must be your FF settings or something…
Do not experience any issues with videos on the BBC (or any other) site.

Code: Select all
$ eselect kernel list
Available kernel symlink targets:
  [1]   linux-3.5.0-sabayon
  [2]   linux-3.7.0-sabayon *
$ firefox --version
Mozilla Firefox 17.0.1
$ equo query installed -vq adobe
www-plugins/adobe-flash-11.2.202.251
