LibreOffice update to 3.5 [Solved]

Postby deadDrift » Tue Dec 20, 2011 18:24

I was wondering why the latest system upgrade pushed out LibreOffice 3.5, when according to their website, 3.5 is still in beta test?

LibreOffice update to 3.5

Postby deadDrift » Fri Dec 23, 2011 17:24

The system upgrade moved LibreOffice to version 3.5 which is a beta release. There are several serious deficiencies in it's operation. LibreOffice needs to be moved back to the stable release now!

Hi bahamutsfire,

The save dialog works for me.
Only thing that was not working is the PDF Button in the Toolbar, but as workarround you can go to the export as pdf and this works.

Hi deadDrift,

What "serious deficiencies" do you have with the 3.5.0?
For me it's except the pdf export working like a charme, didn't find another thing that bothers me.

Hi maulbongo -

I can't open two documents at once, Say, two writer files or one writer file and a calc file. How much more basic of a problem do I need to find? This is a beta version not supported by the developers as an operational package. Why should I put my documents and work at risk when the solution is obvious. Go back to the stable version. I don't want to be a beta tester for such a basic application that we should expect to work correctly.

Merged two topics. deadDrift, please do not create threads about the same thing in two different sheds (forums), it just leads to fragmentation or unnecessary duplication of posts.

By the way, LibreOffice 3.5.0.0 is indeed a buggy beta release. I'm using the 3.5.9999 ebuild from Portage, which installs a version of LibreOffice which works nicely. You might want to file a bug report in the SL Bugzilla (see the link Bugs at the top of this page) to request the SL developers to build that version and add it to the Entropy repository instead of the buggy 3.5.0.0.

Hi deadDrift,

Aha, these are way more informations and this I didn't check before.
So now I tested and for me the same Problem appears.
For me it is not tragical and I can wait for an updated version.
But for people working with multiple files this really sucks.

Edit: I posted a bug report already.

Thanks for filing the bug report maulbongo. In addition, I'm on the sabayonlinux.org repo not the weekly. But I'm not too sure how different they are right now because I'm only getting updates once a week as well. Might be due to the holiday season's busy schedule.

The devs do an amazing job keeping SL going. I guess a bump in the road once in awhile is to be expected.

So this is the reason for my suspicion Lol.

I always have this stupid paranoia in me when ever something goes wrong...anyway I'm glad this thread was brought up & the version of libre office was pushed back to 3.4r1.

Thanks for the fast response!
