Kernel stalling/freeze full system

Postby Crypto_ahash » Sun Oct 23, 2011 12:23

Hi guys,

Not sure where I had to ask support in the Forum. Anyhow. I am having some weird issues when doing some heavy git commiting and pulling from loads of repositories.

It seems the kernel stalls for some reason and my whole system freezes. Reboot is the only solution.
I tried with both latest sabayon-linux and fusion kernel.

Code: Select all
Oct 23 12:53:25 Sab kernel: [  959.007060] INFO: rcu_sched_state detected stalls on CPUs/tasks: { 1} (detected by 0, t=60002 jiffies)
Oct 23 12:56:25 Sab kernel: [ 1139.039064] INFO: rcu_sched_state detected stalls on CPUs/tasks: { 1} (detected by 0, t=240034 jiffies)
Oct 23 12:59:25 Sab kernel: [ 1319.071061] INFO: rcu_sched_state detected stalls on CPUs/tasks: { 1} (detected by 0, t=420066 jiffies)
Oct 23 13:02:25 Sab kernel: [ 1499.103061] INFO: rcu_sched_state detected stalls on CPUs/tasks: { 1} (detected by 0, t=600098 jiffies

This is the only thing I see in the messages log. Help is needed.

Ok itts my network card that crashes the system when doing too much throughput...
I just tried with my WiFi and it is not happening at all.

Card:
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101E/RTL8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller (rev 05)

Does anyone have a solution for me? Maybe some tweak or new driver?

Ok nevermind I fixed it with compiling the correct drivers for the kernel and removing the current loaded:
Code: Select all
rmmod e1000
rmmod rtlwifi
rmmod rtl8192ce
rmmod rtlwifi
rmmod rtl8192c_common
insmod ./src/r8101.ko

I added those modules to the blacklist to prevent them to load on start up and added the r8101.ko to load on start up.
