Cups (Printing) & LibreOffice [Solved]

Postby john t » Sat Aug 20, 2011 19:24

My Sabayon 6 (x86_64) was installed successfully & afterwards I was able to install my Brother MFC-490CW drivers. The 'test pages' will print. I can print from "Chromium" but I CANNOT print from LibreOffice.

Cups provide the following message: "no pages found" when printing from LibreOffice.

Any suggestions? Yes..I assigned the user(s) in Cups.

Don't have your printer, but Google tells me that one cause of the problem you're experiencing is the lack of the package a2ps. If you don't have that package installed, install it and try to print again. You may need to restart CUPS (or reboot) and/or delete and re-add the printer using the CUPS management interface (http://localhost:631/).

:D Thank you Fitzcarraldo!

I successfully installed a2ps (equo install a2ps --ask). I rebooted as instructed and re-opened my LibreOffice document. I opened the print dialog screen and 'clicked' print. SUCCESS! .....
The Brother MFC-490CW (wireless printer) turned on and printed my document.

The app.'a2ps' is new to me. I'm not sure how it interacts with Sabayon 6. I'll have to look into it.
