Nice video review + BTRFS question

Postby ancient mariner » Fri Jul 29, 2011 22:23

InfinitelyGalactic's review of Sabayon 6 here.

He mentions that Sabayon 6 has moved to BTRFS from EXT4 with a performance increase. Is it worth doing a re-install for performance gains, or will they only be minimal?

Time ago (maybe 5.4?... Dunno actually) I tried BTRFS with a fresh install of Sabayon in one partition: performances were worse than EXT4... Maybe now BTRFS improved a lot, who knows? BTW you can convert an existing partition EXT4->BTRFS:
EXT3/4 to BTRFS

He mentions in that review that he does not have any Proxy Settings page in System Settings > Network Settings. To get that entry back, you need to install kde-base/konqueror. Must have slipped through the net when the SL developers were putting together SL 6.
