Open Office compile mingw32 error

Postby aZiXx » Wed Mar 18, 2009 12:53

Hello,

I get this error when trying to compile OOo_3.0.1_src_core.tar.bz2:

Code: Select all
checking for external/unowinreg/unowinreg.dll... configure: WARNING: not found, will be cross-built using mingw32
configure: error: for rebuilding unowinreg.dll you need the mingw32 C++ compiler.
         Specify mingw32 g++ executable name with --with-mingwin.
Or use prebuilt one from http://tools.openoffice.org/unowinreg_prebuild/680/ and
         put it into external/unowinreg

If I specify the config as: "./configure --with-mingwin=i586-mingw32msvc-g++", I get:
Code: Select all
configure: error: specified MinGW32 C++ cross-compiler not found. Install it or correct name.

I looked into this mingw32, and its a port for windows to have c++ or gcc compile capability I think. So it shouldn't be needed on a linux distro.

I am on Sabayon 4 r1 x64.

This is the config.log:

Code: Select all
This file contains any messages produced by compilers while
running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.

It was created by configure, which was
generated by GNU Autoconf 2.61.  Invocation command line was

Thanks for your help :)

I don't want to install using emerge. I want to be able to install using already downloaded files, like if I need to format OS again, I can do this without having to DL all the files again.

Thanks again!

Peace.

As far as I can tell, entropy just does the same as emerge: downloads the package and installs. Maybe I don't understand the scope you are presenting this info as, but some more explanation on how this would solve my issue of not having to download files again would help.

I mentioned at the end of the original post:

So entropy, emerge, etc, they all download the files, but can I keep them in a HD somewhere, reformat, reinstall OS, and then use those same files to install the app again? Like in Windows .exe, in Fedora/Redhat/Mandriva .rpm, etc.

I want to install OpenOffice via src so that I can always install using already downloaded files. If I can do this with emerge or entropy, please let me know how.

Thank you.

Peace.

http://www.sabayonlinux.org/repository/ ... e-3.0.1-r1

Press 1 of the 4 big download icons.
You can use equo to install that package at any time.

(Ofcourse be sure to get the right arch though. x86 or x86_64)

As an alternative, you use entropy to simply install openoffice and create a smartpackage afterwards.
see equo for help about that.

entropy downloads the binary file and stores it locally, plus what joost said. Emerge does the same, stores packages locally

problem with already downloaded files is, they can outdate fast

I updated all of entropy/equo.
I downloaded the Open Office 3.0.1-r1 tbz2 package "app-office:openoffice-3.0.1-r1~0.tbz2".
I opened up Spritz manager.
File -> Install from binary package
Selected the file.
Clicked "yes" when asked if I was "supa sure".
Then Spritz came back with empty window, and has the "Update" tab selected. At the bottom left it says: "Showing: 12 items". But there is nothing "showing".

I click on the next tab "Available". Everything is grayed out, can't click on anything except text window with error text below, and "copy" or "clear" are only options. This is displayed:

Code: Select all

I am then left to close Spritz as the only option.
Open up Spritz, search "open office", click on "Installed" tab, still shows 3.0.0-r1 as version installed.

Any idea what is going on here?

Thank you once more.

Peace.
