Removing Real Player dependency for MPlayer [Solved]

Postby micia » Sun Dec 14, 2008 20:15

Hello,
I would like to install MPlayer for video playback, but I noticed
that it forces me to install Real Player (which I particularly hate by the way).

Since it seems useless to me having 2 players that do almost the same things and
that I would like to avoid being bound to the Real Player license for using an open source software
like MPlayer; Could someone tell me if it is possible to remove this dependency in some way
or if my only possibility is to do it in the dirty way
Code: Select all
equo install mplayer --nodeps

Thanks in advance for any help :D

equo is binary so no you can't

you will need to use portage to use USE flags

I guess I may try, thank you for the quick answer;
It could maybe a good idea to add a "mini" version of mplayer in equo :)

I was waiting for a good reason to try portage, anyway...

Real Player is now masked and its USE flag removed globally.
We already applied this upstream rule to the Entropy branch 4
