K3b doesn't start

Postby soloingbastard » Sun Dec 07, 2008 23:34

Hey, just relatively recently installed Sabayon 3.5.1 and i've found rather disturbingly that K3B doesn't even open. When i open it, it never even gets to the detecting drives part.
What could this be? any ideas on how to fix this?
thnx

Try to run it from a Konsole as normal user and see what is the output on the konsole itself.
Mine prints this:

One error is here:
Failed to get list of devices
Looks like /dev/sr0 is pointing to nothing.
I don't know what this means.
Probably it could be interesting to have a look to dmesg output and to /proc/scsi dir.
In my case I have the /proc/scsi/scsi file that contains:
# cat /proc/scsi/scsi
Attached devices:
Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
Vendor: ATA Model: WDC WD2500BEKT-0 Rev: 11.0
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 05
Host: scsi3 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
Vendor: MATSHITA Model: DVD-RAM UJ-861H Rev: 1.50
Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 05

I think now you need some kernel guru to help you...

Good luck.
