xsane as a plugin to gimp

Postby lourens » Sun Nov 16, 2008 18:24

Hello,

I've recently installed Sabayon 3.5 x86_64 (nice piece of work - Thanks You!).
A small problem getting xsane to appear on Gimp's File -> Acquire menu.
xsane correctly identifies and uses my scanner.
gimp-2.4.6, xsane-0.995, iscan-2.110, sane-backends-1.0.19-r2, sane-frontends-1.0.14 are installed.
I have created "ln -v -s /usr/bin/xscanimage /usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins" and also "ln -v -s /usr/bin/xscanimage ~/.gimp-2.4/plug-ins" but no joy.

Any help will be appreciated.

re-emerge xsane with USE="gimp" and it should work like a charm.
It's also possible to set this USE flag permanently with ufed or add it to the USE section of your /etc/make.conf

Thanks for your reply (I've been away so apologies for late response)
I do not yet understand the relationship between the Gentoo management tools and Spritz / Equo and was hoping for a way to set the USE flags in a Sabayon package management tool.
I have not managed to do this though :-)

Using emerge:
emerge -s xsane
* media-gfx/xsane
Latest version installed: 0.995
Homepage: http://www.xsane.org/
Description: graphical scanning frontend
License: GPL-2

emerge -pv xsane
Calculating dependencies... done!
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "media-gfx/xsane".

I have gimp include in USE section of /etc/make.conf but the Sabayon tools appear to ignore these configs ??

Regards and Thanks.
