Directory synchronization with Linux

Postby thenthenio » Sun Sep 21, 2008 23:42

Is there an easy to use directory synchronization manager gui for Linux (Sabayon).
Somethig that is able to manage multiple directory, multiple server directory synchronization (on LAN, not Internet), allowing to handle both directions sync, conflicts, etc..

Many thanks.

Try Unison, a bi-directional synchronisation tool with a GUI:

It's in Portage.

See also the article on Unison in the October 2008 issue (LXF110) of Linux Format magazine.

I did an emerge -s unison bui the result is
Code: Select all
Searching...
[ Results for search key : unison ]
[ Applications found : 0 ]

This is a new installation of Sabayon Linux 3.5, I only used Entropy up to now (in Entropy unison is not available).
Do you think is a good idea to do an emerge --sync && layman -S sabayon?
Or could it be dangerous to the stability of the system?

Thank you Fitzcarraldo!

I don't know, as I don't use Entropy. However, you could request for Unison to be compiled and added to the Entropy repository:
