Equo wants to install linux-server kernel and modules?

Post by ElDuderino » Thu May 23, 2013 16:31

Hi,

when I try

Code: Select all

equo i virtualbox-bin -p
I get this:
  • [N] [sabayon-limbo] sys-kernel/linux-server-3.9.3|1
    [N] [sabayon-limbo] app-emulation/virtualbox-modules-4.2.12#3.9.0-server|3
    [N] [sabayonlinux.org] app-emulation/virtualbox-bin-4.2.12|0
It should be using the modules for linux-sabayon, and leave the kernel itself alone.

Has anyone else that problem?

Thanks

It's not an issue.
Entropy does not know what tag of virtualbox-modules you want and the currently running kernel cannot be reliably detected. Just enforce your own virtualbox-modules tag you want. An example is:

Code: Select all

equo install virtualbox-modules#$(uname -r)

http://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?title ... Virtualbox
If you get black screen after restarting your pc, better read that: viewtopic.php?f=86&t=29965
If you are using Sabayon older than 13.04 you will probably face that black screen because virtualbox installs the (3.9.2) kernel and it's modules doesn't matter which version you point. Was thinking to report it, but do not to overwhelm lxnay with that minor issue. Install (non server kernel) and switch it with the same version as the downloaded from virtualbox.
