Using Partimage the partition to save *must* not be mounted. You can emerge partimage saving *other* partitions than the active one.Partimage is not able creating an image of the current running system.
If you have Sabayon only you can save it via Livecd containing partimage.

Maybe you could try the parted livecd.
I dunno if partimage is included, but i guess so...

Disk Imaging

I know that when I'm in Windows, I can use Acronis True Image to make a bootable image of my system. So if I trash my XP installation, I can simply restore the image I created in Acronis, and be back to a working system.
Is there a similar utility to be found in Sabayon or Linux that I can use?

Thanks :)

Wont work, because a partition must be unmounted to make a image of it AFAIK

Better use a Livecd (i guess the gparted one has partimage included).

This requirement might be a good excuse for setting up a dual-boot system? Have PartImg on both and you can have it do an Image on the other at any time?

Plus, having the opportunity to make Installation tests and system restore operations when something goes wrong! On the other hand, you can install a VM for much the same reasons.
