Do not even try to migrate unless you are part of devel team.

Could you elaborate on the future plans? Is there a timescale on which Sabayon will be abandoned? Will there be a recommended migration path to Mocaccino at some point, or will a new installation be required? I maintain quite some systems and would really like to do some planning in advance...

Mocaccino OS is under development. There is no plan to migrate now.
Weekly repository issue was described here.

I have two installations of Sabayon.

I will mantain, even using Gentoo commands,

since they are my job distros, my work, main distros. It is not useful for me, remove my well configurated, each day used, main distro!

Sabayon is my favorite Distro, i use since 2007.

But i will try Mocaccino in new partitions, clean Mocaccino installation. Not over Sabayon, at least for some time.

Yes, sure, I read that. However, it also says:
Meanwhile, even though weekly is frozen for users since August 19th, we don't think those users are at risk. It is OK to not receive updates for a couple of weeks.
Certainly, late August to today might still qualify as "a couple of weeks". However, is there a commitment that this will be fixed (or even a timescale?), or is all development work going into the new OS? In the latter case it might be advisable to switch to sabayonlinux.org repo until Mocaccino is production-ready, even if the cited posting is somewhat discouraging to do that.

Furthermore, I have to install new systems now (or at least pretty soon). I can use the latest available daily images from August to do so, but given the unclear future it doesn't feel like "the right thing" to do.

Now we've got a clear statement: Sabayon project is rebranding to MocaccinoOS
Sabayon users will keep receiving updates on the sabayonlinux.org repositories, but the sabayon-weekly repositories have been frozen already.
No updates on weekly anymore. The only option is to switch to main and later migrate to Mocaccino.

I don't understand why there is no hint on the web page that sabayon is not getting any updates any more, at least at the download page I would expect that. Otherwise new starters will be disappointed and won't even try MoccaccinoOS
