A small update here. Today we pushed new kernels with the correct dracut parameters set.

@flexoron: Can you try update to the latest kernel from main repo and confirm it is now resolved? Others already did.

Oh and I need to remind people that, even though MOST of the time updates that go into main repo are perfectly fine, sometimes there is an issue. This is (was)happening now too. If you were using the default weekly repository that is enabled as the default on the stable images, you had never run into trouble.

Ok. I know I have the blacklist. I added that as well as something like nouveau.modeset=0 based on what I was reading trying to figure it out. I did not do the dracut command though. Ill give it a try.

I am using the weekly and have been since this all started. At least as far as I know how to tell. I started Rigo, went to "manage repositories" and it says sabayon-limbo is disabled, and sabayon-weekly is enabled.

This is right after a clean install from the live disk

@joost
Hmm Im sorry but I am firmly bound to sabayon-weekly and kernel-switcher
So I reinstalled kernel 4.18.7
and replayed the dracut step:
dracut -H -q -f -o systemd -o systemd-initrd -o systemd-networkd -o dracut-systemd --kver=4.18.0-sabayon /boot/initramfs-genkernel-x86_64-4.18.0-sabayon.

Everything is fine! The system boots as expected.

perhaps I should activate sabayon-main?
sabayon-weekly is so very stable and does not break my own applications installed/used in a private area.

what this means..I need daylight and maybe several hours to get my applications running. :)

I am also successful after switching to 4.18. Minor skipped heartbeat when initial reboot brought up the text log in screen again, but I just had to reinstall the nvidia driver for the kernel. Reboot again and everything is good. Thank you joost and flexoron for your work.

Hello Joost,

switched to sabayon-main and upgraded as usual(kernel 4.18.9 included).
Sober-minded, I confirm it is resolved.

But I have 2 questions.
----------------------------
1.
Step 4 of the upgrade process installed the new kernel.
Step 8 upgraded dracut.

I guess Step 4 executed the 'old' dracut while Step 17 executed the updated one?

(4/38) sys-kernel/linux-sabayon-4.18.9
* Creating dracut initramfs for 4.18.0-sabayon arch: x86_64

(8/38) sys-kernel/sabayon-dracut-1.0
* Installing package: sys-kernel/sabayon-dracut-1.0

(17/38) sys-kernel/linux-sabayon-4.14.71
* Creating dracut initramfs for 4.14.0-sabayon arch: x86_64
----------------------------
2.
It seems that sabayon-kernel.eclass update happens somehow before? How?
----------------------------

Step 8 upgraded dracut.
No. sabayon-dracut is a config file we maintain on git.
https://github.com/Sabayon/sabayon-dist ... bayon.conf

IMHO it should have been installed before any kernel package. Because indeed it now looks like the first kernel has a initramfs without our desired config.
