When can we expect kernel 4.17?

Hi guys, when can we expect the new kernel coming to entropy? Because I read that maybe (MAYBE) they fixed the touchpad/nvidia issue in 4.17.0-rc6 and I'm really looking forward it? And I'd rather have it directly form Sabayon repository than syncing to portage.

It was just released today. It's generally a few days before it's officially available from Gentoo or Sabayon.

That was 17 days ago, why is it taking so long?
Interestingly, since 4.16-r13 the touchpad is recognised and the system boots without specific acpi-options. But still, touchpad works horribly so I barely use it and every now and then, touchpad will completely freeze and I'll have to do:
modprobe -r i2c_hid
modprobe i2c_hid
Anyway, I'm looking forward to 4.17 to see if there is some progress.

FYI, sys-kernel/linux-sabayon-4.17.2 is in sabayon-limbo. So expect it to make it's way to mainline repos in the next few days.

The only thing I can say about why it takes so long, is that you have to keep in mind that we don't just need the kernel, but all the modules that go along with it. nVidia doesn't always release right when the kernel does. And there can always be other factors. It's better to have a decently tested kernel than an unstable kernel.
