How did you install the Kernel 4.15? Portage or Limbo (though you said before, you don't use Limbo). I haven't seen Kernel 4.15, when I updated my repo and then entered:

Code: Select all

equo s linux-sabayon-4.15
╠ @@ Suche...
╠ Schlüsselwörter: linux-sabayon-4.15
╠ Gefunden: 0 Einträge
I have some login troubles with Kernel 4.14.16, black login screen and my computer seems to 'hang' So for now I need to start in GRUB windows with Kernel 4.13.11.

p.s. I like your Cursor theme, but I wished it would be in 48 or 64 pixel size.

Thank you, Sabayonino.
I never worked with Sabayon-distro-overlay. And I don't think about to do this at this time. So, I will wait, until normal Sabayon repo will have the Kernel 4.15, which I hope, will fix my login issue (black screen and 'hanging'.

@Joost correct me if I'm wrong, but Kernel v4.15 is around the corner, isn't it? Or what is the roadmap? To my knowledge, we were about to stick to LTS kernels: https://www.sabayon.org/article/sabayon ... e-strategy

Are you talking about it just being available? Because it's been available for a while now: https://packages.sabayon.org/quicksearc ... 15&x=0&y=0

Since 4.15 isn't a LTS kernel, it won't be a part of the fresh install.

i have in mind that i have the kernel 4.15 (from the limbo repo)

Code: Select all

uname -a
Linux sabayon.local 4.15.0-sabayon #1 SMP Mon Feb 12 08:24:15 UTC 2018 x86_64 AMD FX(tm)-8120 Eight-Core Processor AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux

sys-kernel/linux-sabayon-4.15.2 ramo: 5, [sabayonlinux.org]
╠ Disponível: versão: 4.15.2 ~ tag: NoTag ~ revisão: 0
╠ Instalado: versão: 4.15.2 ~ tag: NoTag ~ revisão: 0
╠ Slot: 4.15
╠ Homepage: https://github.com/Sabayon/kernel
╠ Descrição: Official Sabayon Linu
Actually, it is 4.15.2 and is easy to find even in the weekly repo:

https://packages.sabayon.org/show/linux ... 5,standard

It works in my system, but the 4.14 also worked.

MORE RESULTS OF MY TESTS AND USE. AFTER UPGRADES, NO MORE INTERNET ACESS.

The first small problem im my installation osf Sabayon. After the upgrades of yesterday.... No more network, no more internet. I dont filled a bug in bugzilla, since i'm not certain that is really a bug.

Interesting that was only in this Sabayon, because the problem not occurred in OpenSUSE and in my older Sabayon...in both, the net working

It is my comp. at the UNiversity, an wired conection, with DHCP.... i found that the problem was in DHCP.

Why? is because if i make again and used my old, antique conection protocol
(gateway and static DNS and IP, is no more used as default from 3 years ago)

With static IP, internet works! from this internet conection, i installed the package DHCPCD.... then , i disconnect and remove this "auxiliary" static IP conection.

i put the service dhcpcd, service, enabled in Systemd, and BINGO.... Network and Internet, again.

For people and/or developers:
Sumarizing.... Upgrades of the day 02/27/2018 had broken DHCP .....is this a Bug? Install the package "dhcpcd" and enable the dhcpcd.service in the systemd, solve the issue....

another issue, simple. Kwin effects no more working with the older Mesa package, but when mesa was upgraded, all is good.

I know, this is solved, bu this is a kind of info, good news, to developers and community....

I still continue testing and using this installation of Sabayon.

near a year installed...

Fully upgraded to Sabayon 18.11, working good and responsive!

Even I changed the kernel to 4.18.11.

10/07/2018, I upgraded my Sabayon!

This is my new image of Neofetch. My Neofetch is "colors changed" and translated to Brazilian Portuguese:

https://i.postimg.cc/DZBPn875/novoneofetch.png

Today, 10/18/2018, fully upgraded again. Working like a charm...
