Preserved Library [Solved]

Postby nomad » Sun Jul 20, 2014 6:58

I keep getting 'There is 1 preserved library on the system. What to do?' message after update. No matter how many times I select the 'Update system now' button, I keep returning to this message.

If I install a package thru the command line, I get this:

☛ There is 1 preserved library on the system
╠ /usr/lib64/ [ -> app-arch/rpm-4.11.2]

Is this that preserved library ? Any harm keeping it ? How do I get rid of it ?

It's likely to be on purpose: version of app-arch/rpm in the Entropy Sabayon Weekly repository is 4.11.2, so you wouldn't want to break it by removing So the answers to your questions are: "Yes", "No" and "Don't". BTW, if you don't already do it, it's always useful to occasionally do a library and dependency check:

Code: Select all

# equo libtest

Then may be the package manager should be fixed to remove that message because like I said, that question 'What to do?' button in the GUI is there no matter what. It is rather confusing. Thnx for the advice.

equo deptest solved this problem but the real problem is that newbies get stuck in a endless loop and this needs to be fixed. We newbies should not have to search the forums to fix a fresh install!
