Sabayon Foresincs isn't an Official Release but it is supported anyway.

Official Releases --> http://na.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/sabayo ... /main.html
Daily Releases ---> http://na.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/sabayo ... daily.html
(I think Sabayon Forensics is (was ?) manteined by Wolfden --> http://wolf911.us/wgo/info/doku.php?id= ... _forensics)
Monthly Releases ---> http://na.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/sabayo ... nthly.html

what' about "Out Of the Box" for you ? maybe Wolfden thought that Sabayon Forensics didn't need LibreOffice...

So running live cd/dvd/usb-stick , if you have much memory , you can donwload and install LO if you need !
Code: Select all
# equo update && equo install libreoffice

Oh, yes, you've had some bad luck with the latest kernel 3.14. Some of us have. But there is a stable Sabayon to download on the Sabayon website. It is a good idea to use a more stable edition just in case when you are a noob. Updates will come then, if you install.
But I wonder much more, what do you really want? Here:
https://forum.sabayon.org/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=31643
you say, you want to get Sabayon expert, but in this thread you say, you won't install any missing program. Out of the box include all programs like office and so on is more for those who want to use a system, not for those who want to learn a system.
Then, you may learn how to write threads with larger attachments like your computer description. For adding such information, in the menue line above the text window ther is a "Code" button. When you click it, then you can put many lines between the begin of Code and the end. Then you have a scrolling window for your text.
Another advice. On a Sabyon console there is a command with name:
Code: Select all
logscript.sh

This will give you informations about your system and Sabayon status.
Due to your small memory, I would consider to install just a small Desktop Environment like XFCE.
There are more distributions you are invited to give a chance, *buntu, Linux Mint (rollling also), both are based on debian. Exactly, on *buntu you will have more packages missing, because e.g. the KDE iso is only about 900 to 1000MByte. I've just tried Kubuntu for a friend, it was no joy, really.
So, if you will be patient you may succeed. It's up to you...

Do you mean "cookbug" tool ?

Code: Select all
# cookbug

I downloaded Zorian 8 Gaming 64, it's out of the box. Zorian 8 Ultimate is even better but, it costs 10 Euros to download.

@Sabayonino... No, I didn't mean 'cookbug' because I never had heard that command. And I won't file a bug. I would only like to collect some hardware and system information, including lsmod, lspci, lsusb. I assume, this 'logscript.sh' was created by Fabio or am I wrong?
Anyway, as we can see, when we run 'cookbug' we get errors with output (/var/log/messages doesn't exist anymore).
So I don't see any use for Sabayon here.

btw. in latest builds of Sab. KDE there is no more libreoffice included. You must install yourself.

Hello,

Capitalization is desperation sometimes...

Anyway, there are several threads here that describe the same symptoms again and again. I've found several distros hit by the same issues. It is not Sabayon itself. In my case, I've ran it successfully under UEFI setup and having the default settings in BIOS/UEFI, until 14.01. I feel that it's a problem with the hardware support in the new kernel. KDE developers made some changes that broke opengl 3.1 support and the effects too. The issues could be taken at once by confusion. Some devs/Sabayon maintainers answers could be good.

Here are some threads that show similar behaviors, but the solutions here were not effective in my case:

viewtopic.php?f=57&t=31555

viewtopic.php?f=86&t=31630
viewtopic.php?f=86&t=31597
viewtopic.php?f=57&t=31624
... and two more of way12go...

Above are kernel issues, nvidia/ati drivers/systemd/UEFI issues, but have similar behavior.
Arch and KDE, at least, have got these too, as I've found some posts on their forums by searching solutions to these issues...

Every time kernal panic happens my battery life goes down...

is that a concidence?

Now my battery is down to 90%

At 90% charge it says it's completely charged.

The battery consumption statistics seem to be messed up. I've never had the issue, I don't know how to reset them.

I guess it's a kernal issue(in my case). Waiting for a better one.
