Procedure for not update Kernel and Driver? [Solved]

Post by albfneto » Thu Jan 16, 2014 2:25

In the University, i use Sabayon in a comp. with an ATI board with proprietary drivers, because i need ATI GPU for chemical calculations.
i know that ther LTS kernel is 3.10, however my comp is using the Kernel 3.12.1, working good:

Code: Select all

Pacote: sys-kernel/linux-sabayon-3.12.7 branch: 5, [sabayonlinux.org]
╠ Disponível: versão: 3.12.7 ~ tag: NoTag ~ revisão: 1
╠ Instalado: versão: 3.12.1 ~ tag: NoTag ~ revisão: 1
╠ Slot: 3.12
╠ Homepage: https://github.com/Sabayon/kernel
╠ Descrição: Official Sabayon Linux Standard
╠ kernel image

 @@ Pacote: x11-drivers/ati-drivers-13.9#3.12.0-sabayon branch: 5, [sabayonlinux.org]
╠ Disponível: versão: 13.9 ~ tag: 3.12.0-sabayon ~ revisão: 7
╠ Instalado: versão: 13.9 ~ tag: 3.12.0-sabayon ~ revisão: 1
╠ Slot: 1,3.12.0-sabayon
╠ Homepage: http://www.amd.com
╠ Descrição: Ati precompiled drivers for Radeon
╠ Evergreen (HD5000 Series) and
╠ newer chipsets
╠ Licença: AMD GPL-2 QPL-1.0

But i dont want upgrade kernel and driver, since this is working good. For no more upgrade, i masked the kernel and the ATI drivers.

Is there another simple procedure fo no more upgrade kernel and driver in this machine?

Kernels shouldn't update unless you explicitly do so. They aren't supposed to update as a part of a 'equo upgrade'.

As far as the ATI driver, if you don't want it to update, then masking it is the only thing I can think of.
